Centre contemplating law for eunuchs by end of this year: Gehlot

Union Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot said that Centre is contemplating a law for eunuchs which would be enacted by the end of this year.<br/><br/>The Social Justice and Empowerment minister said the government has taken a decision to enact a law for eunuchs for their welfare. <br/><br/>He said this while speaking at a programme in Jaipur today. He said the law will help in bringing eunuchs in the mainstream society and benefits of various schemes and programmes will reach them. <br/><br/>Provisions for scholarship, education, assistance for their education abroad and many more benefits will be provided to them by the new law.

The government is planning to set up an academy to promote Braj Bhasha, a dialect of Hindi which is spoken by people primarily in Braj region including Agra, Mathura, Etah and Aligarh. <br/><br/>Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma said this during the launch of "Culture Mapping of India" programme at Mathura today. He said that the Braj Sahitya Academy most likely will be set up in Mathura. <br/><br/>The Minister also said that there was a need to preserve traditional dialects and that the government would take initiative in this regard. <br/><br/>Braj language descended from Shauraseni Prakrit and commonly viewed as a western dialect of Hindi. It is spoken by some 575,000 people, primarily in India.
