Centre considering Telengana issue; AP adjourned for 2nd day; KC Rao’s crtical

The government today said that the Telengana is a sensitive issue and assured Lok Sabha that it is applying its mind to the issue. The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs. V. Narayansami said this while responding to the concern expressed by members from the parties across the board. Soon after the question hour was over and the papers were laid, the Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar while expressing concern over the deteriorating health of Mr. Rao urged him to break his fast. Cutting across party lines, the members in Lok Sabha joined the Speaker in the appeal. Some members wanted the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter immediately while others wanted the Prime Minister to call an all party meeting to discuss the issue and find a way out. Leader of the Opposition in the House Mr. L.K. Advani said that his party is willing to support the TRS demand for a separate state and the government should immediately intervene in the matter. He also appealed to Mr. Rao to break his fast. The Janta Dal United leader Mr. Sharad Yadav said that not only is the health of Mr. Rao a matter of serious concern but the situation in Telengana is becoming explosive. He said that the government should have taken the initiative earlier to prevent this situation and urged the government to immediately find a way out to resolve the issue. The leaders of the CPI, the RJD, RLD also that they are willing to support the demand for a separate state of Telengana in view of the agitation in the region and some people even resorting to even committing suicide.<br/><br/>The issue was also raised in the Rajya Sabha during zero hour which led to the adjournment of House for 15 minutes.<br/><br/><br/>
