Government is considering a proposal to convert all mobile towers into green towers by using green energy. Disclosing this in Puducherry, The Minister of New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah said, his ministry is in dialogue with the Communications and Information Technology Ministry in this regard. Inaugurating a three-day international conference on 'Green Energy Technologies-Challenges in research and human resources development, Dr.Abdullah said, the country should develop and patronise green energy on a massive scale in the current context of global warming.<br/><br/>The minister also inaugurated the Madanjeet School of Green Energy at Puduchery University and said there was need for launching research activities in clean technology through such institutions.<br/><br/>He said by the year 2022, around 20,000 mw solar energy would be generated in the country while plans have been intensified to produce tidal wave based energy. There is also a target to generate 11,000 mw through wind.
