The Centre has expressed confidence that the target of cable digitization will be achieved by the end of this month. Stating this in New Delhi on the sidelines of a function, Secretary in the ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Uday Kumar Verma said, more than 80 per cent cable TV digitization has been achieved so far in the 4 Metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Mr Verma said, all stakeholders are extending their cooperation to the ministry in this direction.
Earlier the secretary inaugurated the new monitoring Hall of Electronic Media Monitoring Centre, EMMC and aslo launched its new website. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Verma asked the EMMC to look at anaylsis part of the monitoring in a deeper manner so that better choices could be put forth before the policy makers. The secretary also asked the EMMC to get ready for the monitoring of more than 800 new FM channels which will be coming up in the next 3 years.
