Centre committed to provide LPG as clean cooking fuel through PMUY

Centre is committed to provide LPG as a clean cooking fuel across India through Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has said, more than 90 Lakh new connections have been released to the women from BPL households in the last 6 months. It said, safety of LPG consumers and the households is the prime concern of the government as well as the Oil Marketing Companies, while distributing new LPG connections. <br/><br/>The Ministry said, that government is continuously monitoring the settlement of Insurance claims related to past LPG accidents and monthly meetings are being held with the Insurance Companies. It said, the pendency in this regard has come down from 51 percent in June 2016 to 33.76 per cent in October 2016 and all efforts are being made to clear all pending cases in 3 months.
