In Tripura, Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Babul Supriyo today mounted sharp attack on what he called the failures of the Left Front Government during its regime in the State for more than a decade. Speaking to the press-persons with the State BJP president, Sudhindra Dasgupta by his side, Mr. Supriyo said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government at the Central remains committed to the development of North-East and bring the State of Tripura prominently on the developmental map of the country.

He said that Centre is pro-active about North-East and will initiate measures to bring the region's development on par with other developed parts of the country. There is no dearth of fund but the respective State Governments of the region should ensure judicious utilization of all Central funds, the Minister pointed out. No matter how much money the Central Government sends here, the development of North-East cannot take place unless a corruption-free Government comes to power, he asserted.

Mr. Supriyo later addressed a public gathering at Paradise Choumuhani. The BJP in-charge for Tripura, Sunil Deodhar also addressed the rally. The Minister was on a day's visit to Agartala ahead of the Tripura capital's Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayat Polls.
