The Centre has asserted that it is committed to completely root out the naxal menace in the country. The government said the real aim of the CPI Maoists is to terrorise the people and their true face has been exposed in their frenzy of violence during the two day bandh called by them on the 13th and 14th of this month. Strongly condemning the despicable and desperate acts of the CPI Maoists, the Home Ministry said that eleven civilians and two security personnel were killed in the violence by them during the bandh. An official release said that out of the eleven civilians three were branded as police informers including a doctor. It said that this is creating an insecure environment which will result in further shortage of doctors in remote areas where their services are required. The statement said that while on one hand the CPI Maoists talk about lack of development in remote areas, on the other hand, they continue to damage and destroy infrastructure in these places.
