An Inquiry has been ordered into lapses on part of Police in probing disappearance of child who was found raped. Making a statement in the Lok Sabha today, the Home Minister also stressed on strengthening State intelligence set up and also quickly putting in place a National Counter Terrorism Centre, NCTC, to deal with terror activities. Mr Shinde regretted that not much progress has been made on strengthening the counter terrorism network.
The Home Minister said the Centre has taken on board the concerns of the States in the revised draft for the formation of the NCTC. He said efforts are on to strengthen human component in intelligence agencies which will start yielding results.
Mr. Shinde said forensic science laboratory experts have found possible use of Nitrate compounds in the blast. Advocating tighter checks on explosives, Home Minister said his Ministry took the initiative to put in place ammonium nitrate rules. Mr. Shinde said the government is working towards evolving an effective explosive tracking system to check misuse of explosive materials.
He said District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police should carry out stringent verification of the stocks and consumption of explosives by licensed users more frequently.
