Centre calls for better utilization of funds provided for the districts affected by left extremism

The Centre has called for better utilisation of funds provided by it for the development of the districts worst affected by left wing extremism.<br/><br/>Addressing a meeting of Members of Parliament from these districts, the Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram said that there is need to improve financial and fiscal performance of major developmental schemes in the worst affected districts.<br/><br/>As today's meeting remained inconslusive, another meeting will be held in the second half of May. Mr. Chidambaram said that an action plan would be worked out on the basis of suggestions received from the MPs and will be presented to the Chief Ministers.<br/><br/>Taking part in the first ever meeting of MPs from naxal affected districts, members suggested that MPs and MLAs from these areas must have a role to play in monitoring implementation of the major developmental schemes. They also pointed out that the naxal leaders amassed huge wealth through extortions.
