The centre has assured the lawyers to come up with an insurance scheme for them. All lawyers will be taken up. Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid also promised them to start a stipend for the lawyers for thier early three years of practice. He was addressing the Golden Jubillee celebrations of Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh. He said that the scheme may be started as a pilot project in some districts of the country.

Earlier, inaugurating the celeberations, Vice President Hamid Ansari has said that everybody in the country must be aware of the directions of the courts that freedom of expression is essential to the rule of law and liberty of citizens. He said that poor, uneducatedand exploited mass of the people need a helping hand from the legal profession.

Exhorting the legal profession to help expedite the dispension of justice, Vice President said that ignoring even a minor violation is against the fundamental foundation of the public justice system.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said that lawyers can play their role in strengthening the democracy.
