The Centre has assured all help to the Assam government to maintain law and order situation. Talking to newsmen in Guwahati , Union Minister of state for Home Kiren Rijiju said that the centre will give additional forces to Assam.

Emphasizing on action oriented measures, the Minister asked the state government to gear up its machinery to deal firmly against insurgency. Rijiju said that the situation in some areas of Assam is not conducive.

The minister has appealed all insurgent groups to shun violence and to join mainstream. He said entire North East region will suffer if the situation in Assam does not improve.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla to conduct a speedy enquiry into the killing of Hamren SP. He has also ordered suspension of four police personnel for negligence of duty.

They had accompanied the deceased Hamren SP, Nrityananda Goswami on Thursday but had allegedly escaped from the spot. The family members of Nrityananda Goswami today demanded CBI inquiry into his killing.

The mortal remains of the slain SP were consigned to flames in Guwahati with his several well wishers and Assam Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attending the last rites.
