The Centre has assured the Jammu and Kashmir Government of adequate supplies of fertilisers in the coming season. An official release said that this assurance was given by the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Srikant Kumar Jena during a meeting with the Agriculture Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Mir in New Delhi today. During the meeting, the status of supplies of fertilisers in the current Kharif season was reviewed and requirement of Rabi 2011-12 was also assessed. It was indicated that as against the projected requirement of 45000 Metric Tonne of DAP fertilizer for Rabi, the Centre will make available 55000 Metric Tonne to take adequate care of demand and also shortfall during current Kharif. The Minister also assured that the buffer stock of Urea will be enhanced from the current 5000 Metric Tonne per annum to 10000 Metric Tonne, as desired by the State Government.
