Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Krishna Tirath has asked the Uttrakhand Chief Minister to expedite the implementation pace of the scheme of SABLA and Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana, IGMSY in the State. Mrs. Tirath had written a letter to Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal expressing concern over the slow pace of implementation of these schemes in the State. The SABLA scheme aims at empowerment of adolescent girls while the objective of IGMSY is to improve the health and nutrition status of pregnant, lactating women and infants by promoting appropriate practices during pregnancy, safe delivery and lactation. Mrs. Tirath said that, there were several lacunae in the progress of both the schemes. The Minister also expressed concern over more than 8000 posts of Aanganwadi Workers lying vacant in the State. Mrs. Tirath has asked the State Government to file the action plan for implementation of these schemes latest by the end of this month.
