Centre has asked States to constitute monitoring committees for effective implementation of Twenty Point Programme. Addressing the review meeting of programme in New Delhi today, Minister of State, Coal, Statistics and Programme Implementation, Sriprakash Jaiswal said proper coordination between the State nodal departments is also essential to achieve the desired objectives. The Minister asserted that the focus of the 20 point programme is on poverty alleviation and employment generation in rural areas besides housing, education and family welfare. The Minister appreciated the performance of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Uttarakhand during the year 2009-10. He also urged the states lagging behind to improve and promised full central support in this regard. The Secretaries and representatives from States and Union Territories besides Central Ministries are participating in the meeting to prepare an effective road map for better implementation of this ambitious programme.
