Centre asks states to strengthen intelligence network, enhance capacity building to deal with security challenges

Home Minster P. Chidambaram has called upon all State governments to strengthen intelligence network and enhance capacity building to deal with the challenges of national security. Replying to a debate on the Demands for Grants of his Ministry in the Lok Sabha yesterday, he asked them to share their responsibilities in countering the threat to national security. Mr. Chidambaram strongly advocated the need for collective efforts by all concerned against the threat to national security.
Spelling out the measures taken by the Home Ministry, Mr. Chidambaram said, it has sanctioned 800 crore rupees for setting up 400 model police stations across the country at a cost of 2 crore rupees each.
