States have been asked to set up High Powered Committees to monitor the implementation of Backward Region Grant Fund. Ministry of Panchayati Raj has asked them for speedy implementation of schemes under the Fund to ensure efficiency and equity.AIR Correspondent reports that during the current fiscal development grant over 3200 crore rupees has already been released to 238 districts. There is provision of allotting 4420 crore rupees to over 250 districts under the fund in this fiscal.
