Centre has asked the states to project their demands of pulses for the release from buffer stock. Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry in a release said, government is keeping a close watch on the prices and availability of pulses. The Ministry said, government agencies have procured 50 thousand tonnes of pulses and 25 thousand tonnes have been contracted so far during the year for import. <br/><br/>During last financial year, 55 lakh tonne pulses were imported by private traders which are 10 lakh tonne more than the import of 2014-15. States and Union Territories have been asked to strictly enforce the stock limits and take stringent action against hoarding.
