The Centre has asked the States to include private sector to tackle the needs of urbanisation. Inaugurating the 5th anniversary of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission in New Delhi today, the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said that there must be transparency while doing so. Mr. Mukherjee also cautioned that the users of public facilities will have to pay to sustain them. There is a need to bring out a change in the mindset of the people for this purpose, he said. Speaking on the occasion, the Urban Development Minister, Mr. S. Jaipal Reddy demanded more funds from the government to meet the growing demands of the States.
