Centre asks states to check dishonour of tricolour

The Centre has asked States and Union Territories to avoid use of the National Flag made of plastic. In an advisory issued to the State Governments, Union Territories administrations and Central government department, the Home Ministry asked them to ensure strict compliance of the provisions of the Flag Code and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act. <br/><br/>The Advisory has directed for carrying out mass awareness programmes in this regard and also give wide publicity. <br/>Whoever defaces, defiles, disfigures, destroys, tramples upon or otherwise shows disrespect to or brings into contempt the Indian National Flag is liable for punishment with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine, or with both.
