The Centre has asked all state governments not to involve private firms in organising or sponsoring official events. <br/><br/>The move comes following a report from a Parliamentary committee in this regard. The report was tabled in the Lok Sabha on the 4th of last month.<br/><br/>In its directive to the chief secretaries of all state governments, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said the the instructions be followed by all officials concerned, both in letter and spirit. <br/><br/>It cautioned that violation of the guidelines laid down on the subject will be viewed seriously.
