Centre asks bankers and insurance companies to settle claims of farmers urgently

The Centre has asked bankers to restructure crop loans and insurance companies to settle the claims of farmers urgently. The Home Ministry has also written to states to keep 10 per cent of State Disaster Response Fund reserved for local disasters such as heavy rain, which are to be declared at par with national disasters and use this money for distressed farmers.AIR correspondent reports, that under the Modified National Insurance Scheme, the farmers are eligible to get claim of up to 25 per cent without waiting for the result of crop cutting experiments.
