Centre approves revised cost estimate of Tripura power project

Centre today approved the revised cost estimate of Triputa Gas based power project being implemented by the north eastern electric power corporation limited. The approval was given by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA in New Delhi today. The project is estimated to cost over 623 crore rupees which includes interest amount of over 51 crores. An official press release says that the power generated from the project will be supplied to Tripura. The Cabinet in its meeting held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh approved renaming of Tuticorn Port Trust as V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust. There have been several demands from Tamil Nadu to rename the Port Trust. An official press release issued after the cabinet meeting says it will be a tribute to legendary freedom fighter for his valuable contribution to the freedom struggle.
