The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved renaming of the Mana Airport at Raipur in Chattisgarh as the Swami Vivekanand Airport, Raipur.The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in New Delhi. The decision will fulfill the long pending demand of people of Chhattisgarh as well as the State Government of Chhattisgarh.The Raipur Airport belongs to Airports Authority of India and is suitable for operation of A-320 type of aircraft.Swami Vivekanand, one of the most renowned spiritual leaders, spent major part of his life in Raipur.
