The Centre has approved a proposal of converting the prestigious aircraft-carrier of Indian Navy, INS Virat into a tourist attraction after it's decommission in June this year.<br/><br/>Andhra Pradesh Government in statement said Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar has accepted a proposal to handover the mammoth ship to the state Government once it decommissioned. According to senior Government officials, the the INS Viraat will be anchored at Visakhapatnam and turned into a Star Hotel with about 500 rooms and a conference hall to seat 500 people.<br/>The landing facilities of the aircraft carrier will be used for helicopter landing for big conferences. The state Government has proposed that the conversion of INS Viraaat into a Ship Museum and Hotel will jointly be carried by Indian Navy and Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority. The project has been proposed under the Publi and Private Partnership mode.
