The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the implementation of the Special Industry Initiative Scheme in Jammu & Kashmir. The Scheme will get 100 per cent Central assistance in partnership with National Skill Development Corporation and the Corporate Sector. 40,000 youth of the state are proposed to be trained over a period of five years under the scheme. It proposes to cover all the districts of the State. Under the Scheme, the identified companies will select students from the State and after assessing the skill gap of the trainees and the need of the Corporate, the trainees will be trained suitably by the Corporate. The Corporate will be incentivised to absorb the trainee. A total expenditure of 1000 crore rupees is proposed to be incurred under the Scheme. The Central Government will make a provision of 500 crore rupees in the next five years from current year onwards.
