The Centre has approved an amount of more than 150 crore rupees as grant-in-aid for 14 states and one union territory to develop basic sports infrastructure, under the Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan, PYKKA, scheme. The states include Assam, Chattisgarh, Goa, Kerela, Manipur and union territory of Dadar and Nagar Haveli. A sports ministry release says, the executive committee of PYKKA at its recent meeting approved the amount for developing and maintaining playfields in 12,836 at village and block panchayat levels in these states.
