The Centre has approved 500 crore rupees as special assistance for an irrigation project in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, CCI, chaired by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh sanctioned the one-time grant for Bodwad Parisar Sinchan Yojana after considering the backwardness of the Vidarbha region and water scarcity in Jalgaon district.
The CCI also approved the enhancement of budget by 5236 crore rupees for laying of alternate communication network for defence services for release of spectrum over and above 8098 crore rupees already approved by the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure.
