The Cabinet Committee on Investment, CCI has cleared 13 power projects involving investment worth 33 thousand crore rupees. These projects, include 10 transmission, one hydro and two thermal projects. The decision was taken at a meeting headed by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi yesterday.

The CCI also reviewed 20 projects in the power sector, where various clearances are pending mostly with Environment and Forests Ministry. An official release said, the Expert Advisory Committee has already recommended one project for approval the Environment and Forests Ministry.
The CCI also aproved 25 oil and gas blocks with investment commitments of about 7 billion dollars. While, 16 blocks have been given conditional clearance, 9 blocks were approved without any condition. These projects were stuck over national security issues raised by the Defence Ministry.
