The Centre has announced a 250 crore rupee package for Uttarakhand. The package includes a textile park, two spice parks and infrastructure facilities for boosting horticulture sector.The decision was taken after a meeting between Union Industries and Textile minister Anand Sharma and Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna in Dehradun on Saturday. Industrialists from the state were also present.Later, Anand Sharma told reporters that approval has been given for setting up a textile park in Udhamsingh Nagar district with 40 per cent funding from the Centre. Sharma said spices like ginger and turmeric are in good demand in national and international markets and two spice parks at Sitarganj and Majri Grant have been sanctioned at acost of 15 crore rupees borne by the centre. The spice park at Sitarganj will be set up at 15 hectare of land, the park at Majri Grant will come up at an area of 10 hectares.Textile skill training programme will be taken up at a cost of 100 crore rupees with 75 per cent funding by the centre. The rest will be met by the state. He said ,nearly 15,000 people will be trained at the centre in the next five years. Besides, two convention centres of international standards have been sanctioned in the hill state for holding seminars, exhibitions and meetings at Haridwar and Pantnagar.The Centre has also sanctioned two sheep and wool conservation centres at Uttarakashi and Rudraprayag districts. A road overbridge will be constructed for better movement of industrial goods at the industrial town of Pantnagar. The Centre will develop integrated coldstorage chains to boost the horticulture sector.
