Union Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay has announced a 10-crore rupees package for development works in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh with a promise to bring the temple town on the national and international maps.
Mr. Sahay, who was in Faizabad to attend a programme, yesterday released five crore rupees as the first installment.
The money will be utilised for renovation of Ghats on the banks of the river Saryu, Surya temple and a dargah.
Mr. Sahay also proposed to start a light and sound show at Ayodhya depicting the historical Ganga-Jamuni Tehzib of Awadh and the religious importance of twin cities of Faizabad and Ayodhya.
