The government today announced a Design Clinic Scheme for Design Expertise worth of 73 crore rupees for micro, small and medium enterprises ,MSMEs to provide them design expertise and make their products more competitive. Out the total scheme budget around 49 crore rupees crore will be funded by the government and the balance amount will be contributed by the beneficiary MSME.Inaugurating the acheme in New Delhi,MSME Secretary Dinesh Rai said that it is a unique and ambitious design intervention scheme for MSMEs, which combines design awareness programmes and project based design assistance and will cover 200 MSME clusters during the 11th Five-Year Plan.He said that the scheme will help them to compete in global market. The scheme is a part of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme and the National Institute of Design (NID) will act as a nodal agency for the necessary planning, coordination and follow-up on the scheme.
