Centre announces compensation of Rs 38 lakh to kin of deceased CRPF personnel

The Centre has announced a compensation of over 38 lakh rupees each to the next of kin of those CRPF personnel killed in the Datewada maoist attack on Tuesday. Out of this, 15 lakh rupees will be paid by the Central Government as ex-gratia and ten lakh by the CRPF Risk Fund. Chhattisgarh government will contribute three lakh rupees ex-gratia while ten lakh rupees will be as compensation for anti-naxal operation.<br/><br/>The BJP has said that it will support the Centre if it decides to use militiary against Maoists. Party spokesman, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government should not talk to the Maoists as their only aim is to grab the political power and overthrow democratic forces.<br/><br/>The Congress said that it is fully behind the government in whatever steps it takes to wipe out naxal menace.
