Centre already started process for Telangana creation: KCR

In the midst of on going protest demonstrations in Rayalaseema and Coastal Regions of the state in support of Unified State, Telangana Ratstra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao said that the Centre had already started the process for creation of Telangana state and it would not be reversed under any circumstances. Addressing media in Hyderabad, Chandrasekhara Rao reiterated that there was no need for the state assembly to pass a resolution in favour of statehood for Telangana as the same could be achieved by tabling a bill in Parliament.

He further said that the President of India would refer the matter to the Assembly for its opinion only and the resolution was not mandatory. He said the people of Telangana would not tolerate any change in the stand of Central Government on the issue as the Union Home Minister Chidambaram had already made the statement in Parliament. Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Rosaiah called upon people and political parties to observe restraint in view of the turbulent situation in state. He said the ongoing agitations had a grave impact on state economy as many development programmes including NREGP came to a stand still. He said normal public are facing hardships and the prices of essential commodities escalated due to continuous agitations. On the other hand, Praja Rajyam Party President Chiranjeevi has resigned from Assembly in support of the Unified State. The PRP president has announced in Hyderabad today that the party would strive unrelentingly for keeping the state united. Chiranjeevi, who was elected from Tirupathi assembly constituency, said his party has changed its stand on Telangana after sensing the public opinion in favour of the unified state. He also said he would tour in all the regions of the state to garner support from people in favour of Unified State.
