Centre allows family pensioners, including parents or spouse, to change birth records in case of anomaly

The government has allowed family pensioners, including parents or spouse, to change their date of birth records in case of any anomaly.The objective is to ensure timely enhancement of the social security benefit to them.
According to a Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions circular, the head of the department where the deceased government servant served, can allow change in date of birth of family pensioner in the Pension Payment Order.According to the circular, the beneficiary of family pension will have to submit a request with the head of the department concerned with age proofs including, PAN card, matriculation certificate, voter’s card and Aadhaar number and an affidavit in this regard.
As per norms, family pension is enhanced at the age of 80 years by 20 per cent of the amount being drawn by the beneficiary. Family pension is increased by 10 per cent of the amount fixed initially, every time the beneficiary completes the age of 85, 90 and 95 years. The amount of pension is doubled when the family pensioner attains the age of 100 years.
