The Centre has earmarked 300 Crore rupees under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana for increasing area under palm oil production in the country. According to an Agriculture Ministry Release, the funds to be allocated to eight States, aims to increase Palm Oil Production by three Lakh Tonnes in next five years. Agriculture Ministry has made a detailed work plan for implementing the special programme and increase area under oil palm by 60,000 hectares. The funds under the special programme will be utilised for giving incentives to farmers which include planting material and compensation for loss of income of the farmers during the gestation period.
