Centre alerts naxal affected states against possible maoist attacks

The Centre has alerted naxal affected states against possible Maoist attacks. According to sources, it has also requested the railway ministry to deply adequate manpower to provide security to rail operations and passengers and take precautionary measures.

The alert comes after the latest attack near Gaya when Maoists tried to target a Rajdhani express by blasting the rail tracks. However, the passengers had a miraculous escape after some coaches derailed. The attack comes during the 48 hour bandh call given by the Maoists yesterday in Bihar and six other states.

Meanwhile, strongly condemning the attacks by Maoists during the bandh, the government today said that it only goes to show that the CPI(Maoists) are not serious about their pronouncements of stopping violence and having a meaningful dialogue with the government on various issues. While giving the details of the attacks since the bandh call yesterday, an official spokesman said that such acts of mindless violence exposes the true character of CPI(Maoists).
