The Centre has agreed in principle to conduct DNA test of doubtful citizens whenever necessary during the process of upgradation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. <br/> <br/>It has agreed to send detected foreigners to detention camps soon after being identified. This was decided at a tripartite meeting held in New Delhi between the Centre and the State Government and the All Assam Students Union (AASU) on Thursday. <br/> <br/>The meeting, chaired by the Union Home Secretary G.K.Pillai has decided to start a pilot project for up gradation of NRC in two revenue circles of Barpeta and Chaygaon in the State with effect from first of June this year. <br/> <br/>The project is targeted to be completed within one year. The meeting also decided to constitute a high-level tripartite committee headed by the Joint Secretary in the Union Home Ministry Mr. Naveen Verma to review the progress of implementation relating to sixth and seventh clauses of the Assam Accord signed in 1985.<br/><br/>
