The government has sent technical teams, comprising officials from Central Water Commission (CWC) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), for an on-the-spot study of water situation in drought-affected areas of the country. <br/><br/>The teams would analyse the problems and causes leading to drought situations, identify water resources management challenges, gaps in water information and plans to recharge, long-term solutions and suggest measures for protection, management and restoration of water bodies. They have also been asked to prepare a long-term work plan of possible options. <br/><br/>UNI quoting officials reports that the teams would submit their report within two weeks. This would be a continuous exercise till June this year. <br/><br/>Areas for inspection would be selected on the basis of water stress indicators and in consultation with states. <br/><br/>The teams would also incorporate one officer from the state water resources department.
