An eight-member central observer team is visiting West Bengal today to assess the drought situation in the state. The team is led by Joint Secretary in the Agricultural Ministry. The team will meet the Chief Minister and other concerned ministers before splitting into two groups to tour 11 drought hit districts of the state. The team will return to Kolkata on 10th of this month and have further discussions with the state government before departing for Delhi.
