Central team visiting drought-hit areas of Andhra Pradesh

An eight-member central team today began its tour in the drought-hit areas of Andhra Pradesh. Headed by Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium Managing Director Pravesh Sharma, the team will visit four districts in two teams and assess the crop losses occurred due to drought.According to official information, one team will visit Rangareddy and Ananthapur districts while the second tour in Nalgonda and Mahboobnagar districts.The State Government has declared 876 mandals in 22 districts as drought affected. The agriculture losses alone were estimated to be to the tune of Rs 3,700 crore during the last Kharif season.Before leaving for districts, the central team held a meeting with the state Agriculture, Horticulture and Rural Development officials in Hyderabad.
