Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said, a central team would shortly visit Odisha to assess the damage of paddy crop following un seasonal rains in the state. Informing this to reporters after meeting Dr Singh, Chief Minister Naven Patnaik said, he sought central assistance to deal with the situation. Mr Patnaik also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the issue. Mr Patnaik would be meeting Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today to discuss ways to help the farmers. He would also meet Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to discuss Odisha's proposal before the Centre to introduce value addition system in the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation (MMDR) Act.
