A high level inter-ministerial central team led by K K Pathak, joint secretary, ministry of home affairs, is in Itanagar on a four-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh. The team will assess the damage caused by natural calamity during 2010 in the state and verify the claims of worst affected areas. The eight-member team representing various ministries will be conducting aerial and field survey of flood affected districts in East Siang, Upper Siang, Dibang Valley, Lohit, Anjaw, Papum Pare, East Kameng and Tawang district. State Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu apprised the central team about the lives and property lost during the current year. Khandu emphatically pointed out that the current year had witnessed the worst ever disaster as the nature had wrecked havoc disrupting surface communication for months together. He asserted, the state being a flood prone zone, a comprehensive plan for flood protection is required for minimizing the life and property loss caused by such natural disasters.
