The five-member Central team delegated to study the pandemic situation in Tamil Nadu met Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy in Chennai today. The State Health Minister Dr C. Vijayabhaskar, Chief Secretary K. Shanmugham and senior officials also joined the meeting and briefed the team about the strategies being adopted to contain the pandemic in the state. The team led by Union Health Ministry Additional Secretary Aarti Ahuja wound up its two-day Chennai visit with the meeting.<br />'' <br />''Earlier, the team members visited the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital yesterday. They also saw for themselves the fever camps being organized in every wards in Chennai Corporation through which suspected COVID-19 cases are identified and tested.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile, the COVID-19 total infection in the state has surpassed the one lakh thirty thousand mark with the reporting of 3,680 new cases today. The Tamil Nadu Government is taking measures to promote convalescent plasma therapy on a bigger scale along with other clinical management practices. <br />''<br />''The Tamil Nadu Government is in the process of establishing a blood plasma bank at the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Chennai to treat COVID-19 patients. It is being set up at a cost of two crore rupees. After Delhi, it will be the second such facility in the country once it comes into operation. The hospital has experimented with the convalescent plasma therapy with 20 COVID-19 patients out of which 18 people completely recovered from the infection. <br />''<br />''Encouraged with the results, the government has decided to go ahead with the plasma bank project by which blood plasma will be collected from those who recently recovered from the disease. The State Health Minister Dr C. Vijayabhaskar has appealed to the eligible donors to come forward to participate in the noble cause. <br />
