A seven member Central Team is on a visit to Assam to assess the damage caused by the floods in the state. They visited several districts and will meet the Chief Secretary tomorrow. So far 109 people have lost their lives in floods and 16 others have died due to landslides. Relief camps have been set up for 22 thousand marooned people. The Chief Minister Tarun Gagoi on Wednesday reviewed the flood situation and rehabilitation measures and urged to take immediate steps to release ex-gratia payment to the next of the kin of those who lost their lives in flood and landslide.
