Central team takes stock of damage in cyclone-hit TN

In Tamil Nadu, the Central team constituted to assess the damages caused by the cyclonic storm – Thane, today visited the affected areas of Nagapattinam and Villupuram districts.At Villupuram district the team went to Sornavur, Kandamangalam, Thiruchapuram and assessed the damages and listened to the grievances of the people.In Nagapattinam, Union Agriculture Secretary, Mr. Manoharan and Water Resources Team-member Mr.Sundaramoorthy visited Mayiladuthurai, Sirkali and Araapallam and assessed the damages.Talking to newsmen, Mr. Manoharan said that 50 thousand hectares of paddy and other crops such as the Sugarcane, banana, coconut and Mangoes have been washed out in Nagapattinam district.The Central team will be reaching Chennai to hold talks with the State Government officials.
