The three-member team of the Union Home Ministry reviewed the law and order situation in West Bengal at a high level meeting in Kolkata on Tuesday. The team led by the Additional Secretary of the Union Home Ministry, Mr. D. R. S. Chowdhury met the West Bengal Chief Secretary, Mr. Asok Mohan Chakraborty and top brass of the State Administration to have an overview of the law and order situation. The three-member fact-finding team will meet the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of nine trouble-torn Districts in Kolkata on Wednesday. A delegation of the ruling Left Front met the central team and submitted a memorandum to apprise them about the law and order scenario. Later the Chief Secretary, Mr. Asok Mohan Chakraborty told newsmen this evening that the State has asked for more central forces to tackle law and order effectively. However, Mr. Chakraborty claimed that the law order situation in the State is under control now.
