Central team holds discussions with TN, says to submit report to Centre in four days

A Central team today held discussions with the Tamil Nadu government and said it would submit a report to the Centre in four days. The team members today held discussions with the State Chief Secretary Mr. Debendranath Sarangi today.The team is led by Union Water Resources Secretary Mr. D. V. Singh. The discussion was held at the State Secretariat and was attended by senior officials of the State and other officials of the Central team.Issues regarding reservoir levels and status of standing crops dependent on Cauvery water were taken up at the meeting. Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Mr Singh told newspersons that the team will visit the Cauvery delta for two days.

The team is also scheduled to visit Karnataka as part of its two day program. The visit comes against the backdrop of heightened protest by farmers outfits in Karnataka.

Freight carriers from Tamilnadu to Karnataka have been stopped on the highways leading to Bangalore during in four days against the release of water to Tamilnadu .

Meanwhile, protests were also witnessed in Tiruvarur and Tiruchi demanding the release of 2 tmc ft water to Tamilnadu.
