In the wake of the water sharing disputes between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka , the government has decided to send a central team in the two states ahead of the next week's Cauvery Monitoring Committee meeting. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi, the Union Minsiter for Water Resources Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal said, during the visit, the team will assess the reservoir levels, standing crops and water flow.
He said ,after assessing the situatuion, the team will submit its report to the government and the Monitoring Committee. The report will help the committee to take a call on the issue of release of water from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu after 15th of this month. AIR correspondent reports that recently the Cauvery River Authority , CRA chaired by the Prime Minsiter had directed Karnataka to release 9000 cusecs of water daily to Tamil Nadu between 20th of September to 15th of this month.
