The Central team expressed satisfaction over the relief and rehabilitation measures made for the displaced people in the violence hit areas of Assam. The seven member team today held discussion with the senior officials of the state government. Official sources said that the team asked the Chief Secretary to submit proposal for additional relief fund if required.Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh earlier announced 300 crore rupees for the relief and rehabilitation of the affected people. The team also asked Assam government to set up temporary relief camps so that classes can be resumed in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri district. Meanwhile, arrested Bodoland Peoples Front , BPF, MLA Pradeep Kumar Brahma has been remanded for 14 days judicial custody by a local court in Kokrajahr. Seven cases were registered against Brahma. Indefinate curfew continues in entire Kokrajhar district. BPF announced indefinite Kokrajhar bandh protesting the arrest of Brahma. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today held a meeting with the editors of newspapers and appealed to extend cooperation to the government in its effort to restore peace in the affected areas. Gogoi said that administration is decongesting the crowded relief camps and maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene in camps.
