The Expert Committee appointed by Central government has said that the fears of local people will be allayed on the safety aspects of Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant in Tamil Nadu.
The Central Committee of experts has assured that they will look into the fifty questions raised by Tamil Nadu Committee regarding safety aspects of Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant.
The Central Committee led by Noor-ul-Islam University Vice-chancellor Dr A E Muthunayagam met the State committee led by Tirunelveli district collector R Selvaraj today.
He said that the Central committee will respond to the questions after deliberations among its members.
Pushparayan one of the State committee member representing the protesters said that questions on nuclear waste disposal and generation of electricity were raised in the meeting.
It was decided that the two panels will meet again after ten days. Meanwhile Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K V Thankabalu has said that this power plant is a boon for the state of Tamil Nadu.
He welcomed the comments of former president Dr A PJ Abdul Kalam on the issue and urged the local people to support the nuclear plant.
